In 1928 Jonathan Boswell, Wolsey’s joint Managing Director, set off on a year long global tour to visit overseas agents and gauge the economic conditions of various countries in an attempt to further develop international trade. The outcome of this tour was that by 1932 Wolsey employed 56 overseas agents representing 58 countries. Over the last 100 years the Wolsey brand has been sold into many different countries through a network of agents, distributors and licensees. Europe has been predominantly covered by a network of agents, with France, Greece, Southern Ireland and Spain remaining important export markets. A very important contributor to Wolsey’s success in recent times has been the licensing business established in several countries around the world. The following pages show a brief overview of the key licensees and their markets. |
