Turned professional at the end of 2004 following a hugely successful amateur career in which he won the English Amateur Championship & the Lytham Trophy in 2004. Smashed the Lytham Trophy’s previousrecord score by ten clear strokes and achieved a total score which left him five shots better than Tom Lehman’s winning total in The 1996 Open Championship at Royal Lytham & St Annes.
A protégé of Britain’s most successful golfer, Sir Nick Faldo, he won the prestigious Faldo Series in 2002 & became the first member of Team Faldo, such was the impression he made on the six time Major winner. Robert Rock enjoyed the finest moment of his career when he won the 2012 Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, holding off a host of star names including Rory McIlroy & Tiger Woods to triumph by one shot. A third round 66 gave him a share of the lead – alongside Woods – at the start of the final day, and a two under par 70 was enough to seal a glorious victory. The previous September he had ended a long wait for his maiden title, claiming the BMW Italian Open presented by CartaSi. Had come agonisingly close two years previously, losing a play-off to then amateur Shane Lowry for the Irish Open.
